Statement:

I marry stories from the past with convictions of the present on the surface of each painting or drawing as an attempt to move forward personally and creatively. Addressing both documentation and a formal language that is material heavy, my paintings grow with me, sometimes away from me. Building up layers, over weeks, months, or even years, I gently nudge the work toward a saturated but "al dente" state. I seek visual and historical balance in my exploration of energy, renewal, memory, and familiarity.
